Grant Policy
What is it?
Geldrop-Mierlo is of and for everyone, a place where everyone feels part of the community, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion or, for example, financial situation. People feel part of our community and participate in that community.
Volunteer and community organizations help connect residents in associations, at sports clubs, through school or work. With subsidies, we encourage these social activities and increase the well-being of residents.
In Geldrop-Mierlo, you can apply for four grants:
- One-time grant: grant for an activity of a one-time or experimental nature.
- Structural grant: grant provided per calendar year or for an annually recurring activity.
- Area-based grant: a grant to organize neighborhood, street, or district activities.
- Skill promotion grant: a grant for participation in courses or training by volunteers of a foundation or association.
The information on this page is only about one-time and structural grants. For more information about the area-based grant or the expertise promotion grant, click on one of the links above.
What can you apply for a grant for?
Activities must meet one or more of the following objectives:
- Support social life
- Stimulate and further develop residents' co-responsibility for their own home and living environment
- Promote participation of vulnerable groups in social life
Detailed information and other eligibility requirements can be found in the General Subsidy Ordinance Geldrop-Mierlo 2017 and the Subsidy Scheme 2021-2024 (which runs through December 31, 2024).
From January 1, 2025, the Subsidy Scheme for Volunteer Organizations of the Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo 2025-2028 will take effect.
Structural grant
In Geldrop-Mierlo, welfare subsidies up to €50,000 per year are always granted for four years. At the end of 2020, the structural four-year grants for the period 2021-2024 were granted. If you would like to apply for a structural grant, go to apply for a grant.
Grants starting at €50,000 are awarded for one year at a time. For structural grants, the higher the grant amount, the more accountability is required. See also the section 'Determining the subsidy'.
If your organization did not previously receive a structural grant, it is possible to apply for an interim grant. The procedure is then as follows: on the apply for subsidy page, fill out the application form for structural subsidy for the next year of application. This is then treated as a one-time application. After that year, we consider whether the subsidy can be granted for several years. Starting with the next four-year period, the grant will then run in the regular process.
Fixing structural grant retrospectively
Grants are always awarded provisionally . Afterwards, they are finalized and settled if necessary. You must demonstrate that the activities took place as requested. You must also provide financial justification. Subsidy money that has not been spent on the activities for which it was granted can be reclaimed.
You will always receive a message from the Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo when we expect information from you for the determination of your grant.
- Grants of up to €5,000 are awarded for four years and determined at the end of these four years.
- Grants between €5,000 and €50,000 are awarded for a maximum of four years and determined in the interim after two years and at the end of the four years.
- Grants starting at €50,000 are awarded for one year at a time and determined after the end of each year.
One-time grant
In Geldrop-Mierlo, grants are given for one-time events. If you would like to apply for a grant for a one-time event, go to apply for a grant.
