Hospitality Policy

The hospitality policy of Geldrop-Mierlo is called "Geldrop-Mierlo effervesces". Every hospitality entrepreneur in Geldrop-Mierlo has to deal with this policy. In the policy document you can read about the vision and ambitions, national regulations, adjustments to local ordinances and plans for the future.

Collaboration, communication and integrated policies

Communication and cooperation between catering entrepreneurs with the municipality and police is promoted. This is done, among other things, through the hospitality desk at the municipality for questions from entrepreneurs and a biannual consultation between the municipality and the Dommeldal hospitality association (as representative of the sector).

Permit

If you start a catering business you always need an operating license. If you serve alcoholic beverages you also need an alcohol license. This includes checking whether the catering establishment meets the establishment requirements. When you make an application, you must take into account a processing time of 8 weeks. If you employ someone you want to add to your license, you can do so with a simplified procedure.

BIBOB test

An application for an alcohol license and operating license is subject to the BIBOB test. The BIBOB law prevents the government from unwittingly facilitating crime by granting a license. This law allows the municipality to screen companies and persons. The municipality may decide to forward your application to the national BIBOB office for assessment.

Events

On special occasions, the mayor may grant an exemption from the ban on serving alcohol. This applies for a continuous period of up to twelve days. For more information call the hospitality desk, phone 14 040. The municipality sets noise standards during events and festivities. See also Events Policy. The nationally adopted Activities Decree contains standards for regular noise production by a catering establishment. The General Municipal Bye-Law (APV) designates collective days on which the regular noise standards do not apply (e.g., carnival). In addition, for a maximum of 5 days an incidental exemption can be granted to hospitality businesses whereby the noise standards are extended. You can do this by submitting a notification form at least two weeks in advance.

Local regulations hospitality industry

For hospitality businesses, the liquor and hospitality ordinance is particularly important. This contains what exactly is meant by a catering establishment and what the rules are for terraces and opening hours.
