What would you like to know more about?
Growth
A baby grows quickly. Therefore, respond immediately if you feel that something is not right. Make regular appointments at the child health center. The pediatrician or the youth nurse will check to see how your child is doing and whether it is growing well.
If you have a question in between visits, you can call the child health care center. For information about your baby's development, also check the website Opvoeden. With TNO's iGrow app, you can see how your child (aged 0-18) is growing, how tall your child is getting and whether they are at a healthy weight. You get tips on healthy eating, exercise and sleep. These are important for a healthy weight. You will also see where to play, walk and swim in your area.
Development
For the first four years, the child's counseling office works with you to monitor your child's development. For example, they watch if your child laughs, crawls and how it walks. The youth doctor and the youth nurse keep track of how far along your child is in his development. Are you worried about this and don't have an appointment soon enough? Call the child health office and talk about it.
Inoculation
When your child is about 2 months old, you will be notified by the health office to have your baby vaccinated (vaccinated). Vaccination is voluntary. You can follow the National Vaccination Program (RVP), or tell the child health center yourself what you do and do not want. More information about the National Vaccination Program can be found on theNational Vaccination Program website.
Baby food
Good health is very important for everyone, but babies are still so small that their health deserves extra attention. Healthy nutrition is part of that. At the consultation center, you will receive advice on nutrition for babies from 0 to 12 months. Think of breastfeeding, artificial feeding (bottle feeding) and supplementary feeding (for example, a fruit snack). You can choose from jars or homemade food.
You can also find a lot of information on the websites of the Voedingscentrum and Opvoeden.
Safety
Make your home and yard safe for your child.... Health make sure your child is safe outside, too. Consider, for example, an approved child seat in the car or on the bike. You can read all about safety on the VeiligheidNL website . The Poison Guide tells you what to do if your child has drunk or eaten a toxic substance.
A sick baby
Is your baby sick? Check the website Doctor Doctor for information, or call your doctor.
Do you have general questions about diseases and ailments, or does something often bother your child? Discuss this with the consultation center or your family doctor.
Resources
Do you need certain aids because your child lives at home with a disability? Perhaps your home needs to be modified? Make an appointment with the CMD. Together you can see what is possible.
