Do you live in the countryside and want to participate in increasing biodiversity in your yard?

Then you can still apply until July 1, 2025 for project ErvenPlus4.0 in Geldrop-Mierlo. This project ensures that animal species living on farmyards, such as the swallow, sparrow, owl and bat, get an improved living environment. This is done with various measures, such as planting, hanging nesting boxes and sowing special seed mixtures. In this way, you can help increase biodiversity in the countryside.

Become a participant yet?

Are you living on a farmyard in the outskirts of Geldrop or Mierlo and interested in regional planting and species protection measures? Then you can still apply until July 1, 2025 via brabantslandschap.nl/ervenplus. It will then be assessed whether your yard is eligible. If it does, you will be contacted to schedule an 'erfscan'. A trained yard scanner will then come and take a close look at your yard to determine what measures can be implemented. These could include the installation of mixed hedges, fruit trees, grain fields, swallow boxes, mouse riders, sparrow hotels and mud bogs. On the basis of the farmyard scan, a "farmyard plan" with a design sketch will be drawn up and submitted to you. Upon approval, delivery of the measures will take place.

Many farmyards in Geldrop-Mierlo are already more biodiversity 'redesigned'

As farmyards have become increasingly "tidier" over the past several decades and more paved for machinery and buildings, or simply for convenience, these places are now less suitable for animals and birds. As a result, many yard-dwelling species have been declining for years. We have therefore been participating in the provincial Erven Plus project since 2019. Many residents in our outlying area have now taken advantage of this attractive scheme to bring more nature to their own yards. This has made our outlying area a bit more biodiverse. We now notice that the enthusiasm to participate in this scheme is declining. As a result, the budget made available by the municipality and the Brabants Landschap is not being spent. In consultation with the Brabants Landschap it has been decided to complete the project for Geldrop-Mierlo, after a duration of more than six years, after July 1, 2025. This offers the Brabant Landschap room to use its budget elsewhere in Brabant.
