World Suicide Prevention Week

During World Suicide Prevention Week from Sept. 8 through Sept. 14, we draw attention to suicide prevention. This is still badly needed: every 45 seconds someone in the world steps out of life. And in the Netherlands more than 1,850 people die each year by suicide - that's an average of 5 per day. Only together can we bring these figures down.

In search of words

Talking about suicide and finding the right words is not always easy, but it can make all the difference for someone struggling with suicidal thoughts. How do you start such a conversation? What words do you use? That can take some searching. Therefore we call on everyone this week: go looking for words. Because with words we can help each other.

Will you join us?

Activities are organized throughout the country. Whether you join a Walk into the Light in the morning, gain knowledge at the conference, participate in the Man in Mind Meet-up, follow a webinar or organize an action for the 113Fund - together we look for words to make suicidality discussable. This is how we break the taboo of talking about suicide. Do you want to get started right away and learn which words you can use? Then follow the online Q&A training.
