Reason

Due to congestion on the Mierlo road, public transportation is experiencing delays resulting in unreliable schedules. Regional and municipal policy is precisely aimed at achieving a structural improvement in public transport. By constructing a bus lane from Grote Bosweg to the intersection with Dwarsstraat/Spoelstraat, the bus can pass the queue with considerably less time loss. With a smooth flow and a more reliable timetable, public transportation can better compete with the car.

Plans

The intended bus lane on the Mierloseweg, with a length of approx. 425 m, is foreseen on the road section between the junction with the Grote Bosweg and the intersection with the Dwarsstraat/Spoelstraat, only in the driving direction Geldrop. The bus lane to be constructed will connect directly to the right-turn lane at this intersection. The top layer of the adjacent lanes for car traffic will be replaced with noise-reducing asphalt in this project. The traffic control installation at the Mierloseweg/Dwarsstraat/Spoelstraat intersection will be renewed and modified.

Involvement

The preliminary design is available for inspection from Friday, January 10 until Thursday, February 20 in the public hall in the town hall, De Meent 2 in Geldrop. Within the aforementioned period, anyone can respond in writing or orally to the plans. Written reactions should be sent to the Municipal Executive, Postbus 10101, 5660 GA Geldrop. Planning

After the public participation period, the Municipal Executive will use the comments received to adopt a final plan. Construction of the Mierloseweg bus lane is expected to begin in 2025.
