Flag protocol
At the town hall, the national flag, the flag of North Brabant and the flag of Geldrop-Mierlo including the Progress pennant are hung. At times they are hung at half mast or the Dutch flag is provided with an orange pennant. Sometimes the flag is also flown at additional locations. Want to know when we raise the flag, for what occasion the flag is hung out and whether it is with a pennant? This is described in the flag protocol.
National flag:
Municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo flags according to the general flag instruction of the Rijksoverheid. The raising of the Dutch flag takes place on the following days at the town hall in Geldrop and the Old Town Hall in Mierlo. Does a date below fall on a Sunday or a generally recognized (Christian) holiday? Only then does the date between brackets apply.
- Jan. 31 (Feb. 1): birthday of Princess Beatrix (with orange pennant)
- April 27 (28): King's Day, birthday of King Willem-Alexander (with orange pennant)
- May 4: National Remembrance Day, half-mast from 6 p.m. until sunset

Theme flags:
In addition to the Rijksoverheid 's general flag instruction, we hang a matching flag during some events and special (commemorative) days or moments. In the event that a theme flag is hoisted, the flag of North Brabant is the first alternate flag. If two theme flags are hoisted, the flag of Geldrop-Mierlo is the second alternate flag. On the following days we flag with theme flags at the town hall in Geldrop.

Special requests
Would you like to apply to raise a flag at City Hall to call attention to an issue or theme? You can submit this online using the application form below.
What happens after my application?
The College of Mayor and Aldermen decides whether your flag will be raised at City Hall. Here we consider whether the flag is not contrary to public order and whether it is a commercial or political expression. If you wish to raise a flag that we do not have in stock, you will bring the flag to the town hall yourself.
Requirements:
- The application form must be received by us at least two weeks before the first flag day. You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of submission from us.
- In the case of international conflicts, natural disasters and other types of disasters, we review submissions as quickly as possible. In doing so, we raise the peace flag in most cases. The portfolio holder may exceptionally decide, in consultation with the college, to raise a national flag instead of the peace flag.
- Each flag request must be requested separately.
- During special occasions, your flag may be moved or removed (for example, during national holidays, commemorations or events surrounding the Royal Family).
- Applications for commercial or party political displays or flags that violate public order will not be considered.
