Vacancy Policy Officer Housing

(28- 36 hours per week, scale 10)

"Do you want to contribute to solutions to the housing shortage and are you a star at communicating? Do you enjoy working on policies that impact residents' lives, but also like to get down to business in implementation? Then we are looking for you!"

- colleague Martijn Groenestein -

Your new challenge

As policy officer Housing you are part of the team Strategy and Space Policy at municipality Geldrop-Mierlo. Together with colleagues you represent the municipality in the field of Housing, both locally and regionally. Our core values - involved, creative and reliable - form the basis of our work. We combine this with a healthy dose of humor and a collegial atmosphere.

Geldrop-Mierlo is a medium-sized municipality where we actively contribute to a pleasant living and working environment. The housing task is large: until 2030 we realize between 1000 and 1500 houses, of which 800 in the center of Geldrop. Even after 2030 we will continue to build housing solutions for our residents. Besides housing construction, we maintain contacts with three corporations and tenants' associations, among others. In cooperation with the region we work on policy for sustainable, affordable and suitable housing and living with Health. In this you have a crucial role, both in the policy and its implementation!

What will you do?

In this position, you will work on both policy development and implementation. You are a real connector and enjoy working with different parties, from residents to directors of housing associations. Your tasks include:

  • Develop and implement policies.
  • Advising on housing projects.
  • Establish and implement performance agreements with corporations and tenants.
  • Collaborate with city government and external partners.
  • Pick up operational tasks, such as dealing with objections in the urgency procedure, informing the tenants' association and answering residents' questions about housing.

Our organization

Municipality Geldrop-Mierlo has a beautiful and modern town hall where cooperation is central. We embrace a good work-life balance and support your development and vitality, for example through the Dommelvallei Academy and walking meetings.

At our company, we work from the values: creative (make a difference), reliable (do what you say) and committed (go for it together). These values form the basis for a stimulating work environment in which we support each other and grow together.

The Strategie en Beleid Ruimte team consists of 25 enthusiastic colleagues who are passionately committed to topics such as economy, recreation, tourism, land matters, housing and urban planning. Together we work hard for the future of Geldrop-Mierlo.

Who are we looking for?

Of course it is nice if you already have experience a similar position. But what we find especially important is that you have strong communication skills and are able to communicate effectively at different levels. You are someone who speaks just as easily with residents about their housing questions as with housing association executives about strategic plans.

In addition, you are:

  • At least college education, preferably in a relevant field such as Public Administration or Social Geography.
  • Enthusiastic to both develop policy and put it into practice.
  • Able to connect parties and encourage collaborations.

What can you expect from us?

  • A salary of up to €5313 gross per month (based on a 36-hour work week, scale 10, salary level October 1, 2024).
  • Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05% on top of your salary.
  • Variable working hours, a favorable pension fund and compensation for furnishing your home office.
  • Access to a phone and laptop, and electric bicycles for work appointments.
  • An employment contract for the duration of one year, with the prospect of permanent employment.
