Starter Loan

What is it?

Do you want to buy a home for the first time, but the price is too high for you to qualify for a mortgage? Then the municipality offers you the Starter Loan. Under certain Requirements , first-time buyers can take out a loan of up to €40,000, with no monthly fees for the first three years. 

How does it work?

Starter loan application

The Stichting Stimuleringsfonds Volkshuisvesting Nederlandse Gemeenten (SVn) provides the Starter Loan on behalf of the municipality. The SVn handles the implementation of the loan.

Requirements

The following criteria, among others, are associated with the Starter Loan:

  • The applicant(s) is of age;
  • The existing or new home to be purchased is or will be located in the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo;
  • Applicant(s) become first-time homeowners;
  • The applicant(s) must personally occupy the home for which the Starter Loan is provided;
  • The Starter Loan and the first mortgage are taken out with the National Mortgage Guarantee;
  • The Starter Loan is for the purchase of existing and new construction homes with a maximum purchase (/acquisition) sum of the maximum NHG limit including improvement costs and additional work.
  • Energy-saving-improvement costs and additional work are allowed.
  • The purchase always meets the most current Requirements and Standards NHG.
  • The amount of the loan is a maximum of 20% of the NHG cost limit, with a maximum of €40,000.

Objection and appeal

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
