Start of E-waste race at Vijfblad elementary school

Nine elementary school from the municipalities of Geldrop-Mierlo, Eindhoven and Valkenswaard participate in the E-waste Race from March 17 to April 10. The project officially started in our municipality with a kick-off at elementary school Vijfblad.

Alderman Hans van de Laar and Annelie Ninaber van Eijben of the Race Against Waste were there to encourage the students in collecting as much e-waste (Old laptops or broken kitchen machines, among other things) as possible. In fact, these products often end up with the residual waste in the gray container on the street or in people's homes in the attic or in a drawer. A shame, because they contain valuable and reusable materials that deserve a second life. As much as 95% of the parts of some appliances can be reused.

Your help with this is very important

In the coming weeks, students from the Vijfblad and those from De Vlinder and other students from elementary school in Eindhoven and Valkenswaard will collect a large amount of electronic waste during the E-waste Race 2025.

When you dispose of your small electronic waste separately, you keep harmful substances from entering the environment and reduce the need to extract resources from the earth. The E-waste Race makes it easy for you by having students come and pick up the waste at your residence.

So if you live near one of the participating schools, in Geldrop these are the elementary schools Vijfblad (Linze 3 in Geldrop) and De Vlinder (St. Jozefplein 3 in Geldrop), you can have your electronic waste collected from your home easily and free of charge between March 17 and April 10. You do this by offering your electronic waste online at the website: www.ewasterace.nl.

As a thank you for your contribution to the fight against e-waste, you will receive discount codes for beautiful sustainable products. These include Repeat's headphones, and products from Build Your Own Robot (BYOR).
