Geldrop-Mierlo council adopts Gijzenrooi master plan
Goal: strengthen nature and landscape
Gijzenrooi is a valuable small-scale agricultural cultural landscape around the Gijzenrooise Zegge. The Brabants Landschap and the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo are the largest landowners in the area. In 2021, both parties started an area process for Gijzenrooi to strengthen the special landscape and make it even better to experience. To get a complete picture of all the tasks, ambitions and challenges for the area, many parties and stakeholders were involved in the area process. After the exploratory phase was completed in 2022, in recent years the parties worked on an integrated vision (target image) for the area and the financial feasibility for future management was investigated. The results are contained in the Gijzenrooi Master Plan. On December 9, the council of Geldrop-Mierlo adopted the Master Plan Gijzenrooi. The Master Plan can be consulted on page Area process Gijzenrooi.
Strengthen nature and landscape
The Gijzenrooi Master Plan forms the basis for development of the area. In the coming years, measures will follow to strengthen nature and landscape, to better fit recreation into the area and, where possible, to rehydrate the area. The municipality will also work with Brabants Landschap to find an agricultural entrepreneur, who will manage the entire Gijzenrooi from a new (meeting) farmyard and act as host of the area.
