Environment Counter

At the time the Omgevingswet Act takes effect, every municipality will be connected to the Digital System Omgevingswet (DSO). This is a digital counter for applying for permits, consulting the applicable rules per location and where information about the quality of the physical environment can be found. The digital counter is the central place where information about the living environment under the Omgevingswet comes together. So everyone will soon be able to view and directly use this information in one place.

In the Environment Counter you can:

  • See if a permit is required for your (construction) project and which one it is;
  • See if you need to file a notification;
  • Directly apply for your permits and submit notifications;
  • On a Map by location see what rules and policies apply;
  • See what rules apply to the planned work;
  • Requesting a consultation with the municipality;
  • When applying for a permit, indicate whether and how you used participation and what the result was;
  • See in an overview what notifications and requests you have made.

Just like a real renovation, not everything is in the right place at once. So it is possible that on Jan. 1, 2024, not everything will be in place or some things will go wrong. It takes time to get used to the new law and the different way of working together that comes with it. In the coming years, the Environment Counter will be continuously improved and expanded.
