New apartment complex in Bleekvelden Geldrop
In the area Bleekvelden in Geldrop, forty new rental apartments will be realized. This was announced yesterday Alderman Marc Jeucken during the "residential evening" in which the City Council was updated on housing in Geldrop-Mierlo. The new complex will be located on the Mierloseweg 40, on the corner with the ter Borghstraat. Here now stands an empty office building that will be demolished to make room for the new building. Construction of the apartments could possibly start by the end of this year.
Apartment complex with nod to textile past
The new complex will house forty rental apartments with rents ranging between 870 and 1400 euros. The apartments are suitable for both seniors and first-time buyers, among others. Under the new building there will be a parking basement.
The new building is located in Bleekvelden, an area formerly used by the textile industry to bleach fabrics. The municipality therefore wants the architecture in this area to give a nod to this industrial past. This will also be reflected in the new complex on Mierloseweg. Furthermore, the municipality also wants to make Bleekvelden a green environment. The new building will therefore get planting on the facade.
Planning
In mid-March 2022, the zoning process will enter the public participation phase. Then the city council will decide on the zoning plan. If all goes well, demolition of the old building can begin this year. After that, work can begin on the new building. The apartment complex could then be completed in 2023.
Redevelopment Bleekvelden
Bleekvelden has long been an industrial area. The municipality now wants to transform the area into a residential area with room for about two hundred homes. The first project within this vision is the conversion of the former municipal workshop into twenty loft apartments. The permit for this has been granted and construction work is scheduled to begin this year. The construction of the apartment complex on Mierloseweg is the first new construction project in the area. In addition to building new homes, the municipality will also redesign the Bleekvelden street. That will happen in 2023 or 2024.
"It's great to see that the transformation of Bleekvelden is entering another phase with this plan," said Alderman Jeucken. "We hope that in the near future this area will become a pleasant living environment for both young and old."
Center Impulse Geldrop
The redevelopment of Bleekvelden is part of the program 'Centrum Impuls Geldrop'. With this the municipality wants to build about 800 new rental and owner-occupied houses in the area between the station, Bogardeind and Bleekvelden. Half of these will fall in the social or middle rental category or under the NHG limit of 355,000 euros.
