Chariot wheel from Luchen well now on display in Town Hall

In 2020, an excavation of the area 't Landkaartje on Luchen in Mierlo found traces of several successive farmsteads dating from the 14th to 19th centuries. Farms with a long-term habitation continuity as in Mierlo-Luchen are rare for the Kempen. One of the wells was constructed of sods on a foundation of a complete wagon wheel, including spokes and hub. The cartwheel probably dates to the 18th century. Last year, the wagon wheel was on display at d'n Intheek in Mierlo. As of today it is on display in the public hall of the town hall.

More information and the full report of the excavation can be found on the Luchen website.
