Internet shopping policy

The Netherlands does not yet have a national policy for Internet stores in zoning plans. Recently, the municipality has been receiving more and more requests from people who want to start an Internet store from their home. The 'policy rule Internet stores' explains how the municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo wants to regulate the use of Internet stores in the zoning plans and how they will test applications. When revising zoning plans, the 'Policy Rule Internet Shops' will be included.

Types of online stores

There are three types of Internet stores:

  1. Internet stores within shopping malls
  2. Internet stores in business parks
  3. Internet stores from a residential use

Pick-up points

Rules have also been established for pick-up points (takeaway points) in industrial parks and shopping centers.
