Dog shit is a source of annoyance for everyone. The dog policy should contribute to everyone being able to use the public space in Geldrop-Mierlo in a pleasant way.
Where are you allowed to walk your dog in Geldrop-Mierlo?
There are three types of outlet areas. You can recognize the routes, strips and prohibition areas by the colored bollards placed here.
Dog walking lanes

Have a blue sign that says 'leash out'. You are required to leash the dog, but you do not have to clean up the dog poop yourself. The outlet strips are cleaned at least once a week with a dog poop vacuum.
Dog walking routes

Have a green sign saying "off-leash area. These routes are mainly in the outlying area of the municipality. You do not have to clean up dog poop and your dog is allowed to run loose here.
Prohibition Area

A red sign (saying "prohibited for dogs") is a prohibited area for dogs. These include children's playgrounds, for example.
No sign?
If there is no sign, the following always applies: dog on leash and dog owner cleans up dog poop.
Dog poop bags

Dispensers with dog poop bags are also offered near known exercise areas. These hang near the trash cans and may be used free of charge. The dog waste bags may be deposited in the regular trash cans.
The following locations are involved.
Dog walking fields:
- Jozefplein (Geldrop)
- Tournament Fields (Geldrop)
- Beringstraat (Geldrop)
- Luchen (Mierlo)
Full bags can also be discarded at bag drop-off locations.
Fines for dog poop and failure to leash
Walking the dog in a prohibited area is subject to a fine of 150 euros. Letting a dog defecate outside the dog walking lanes without cleaning up the poop also costs 150 euros. Letting the dog run loose outside the dog walking lanes costs 100 euros. And not being in possession of a dog poop scoop, dog poop bag or other clearing agent (note a handkerchief is not a valid clearing agent) costs 100 euros. On top of the fines, there is also a 9 euro administrative fee.
