Why?

Currently, the bicycle sidewalks in the relevant section of Nuenenenseweg are constructed of concrete tiles. This is no longer up to date. Also the asphalt of the roadway is at the end of its lifespan and needs to be replaced. Time for maintenance!

When?

The maintenance will be carried out by asphalt contractor D. van der Steen of Utrecht and is scheduled from Monday, Feb. 17 around 07:00 a.m. to and Friday, March 7 around 5:00 p.m.

Closures

To carry out the work as quickly as possible, the Nuenenseweg between the Harrie van Gestelstraat and the Volderstraat will be completely closed to all traffic. Only the footpaths will remain free for residents. Parking in the Nuenenseweg, using the entrances is not possible during execution. Also the entrances to the parking/garage boxes behind Pluvierstraat and Gruttostraat will not be accessible and parking is not possible. It is desirable that the entire Nuenenenseweg is free of parked cars and that all entrances and parking courts are free before Monday, February 17. The intention is to park elsewhere in the neighborhood during the work. One-way traffic on Reigerstraat, Vlasstraat, Gruttostraat and Pluvierstraat will be temporarily removed for accessibility to these streets.

Detour

Through traffic will be diverted via the Mierloseweg-Helze-Wielewaal route and vice versa. The Harrie van Gestelstraat will remain accessible via the Mierloseweg and the Volderstraat via the Wielewaal.

Work

Contractor D. van der Steen will begin breaking up the concrete tiles in the bike back lanes and milling the asphalt. A strip of asphalt will remain in the middle of the roadway. The separation between the bike lane and the roadway, opposite the Pluvier Street entrance, will be eliminated. In the new design the bike lane will be flush with the roadway. A new gutter must also be installed along the entire Nuenenseweg on both sides against the existing curb. When this is finished, the new asphalt can be applied with red bicycle-suggestion strips in week 10. 

Bus Service and Waste

The bus company will also be informed fall these works and will choose an alternative route. For garbage collection, please offer it as much as possible at the side streets of the Nuenenseweg. The Nuenenseweg will be accessible for emergency and emergency services, but not for through traffic.
