Geldrop-Mierlo lays foundation for inclusive and dementia-friendly community
Our ambition is to work towards becoming a dementia-friendly municipality. We want to make our offer accessible and visible to all people who need this. Anna Zorgroep, Zuidzorg, GGD, Alzheimer Nl, Stroomz, LEVgroep and the municipality have joined forces to this end and recorded their joint vision of the future in a manifesto. The manifesto was signed by the parties today.
Working on the power of society
People with dementia now and in the future will live "independently" at home for longer and longer. Dementia places great demands on informal care. On average, three informal caregivers are currently involved with one individual. By ensuring that day activities are readily accessible and available close to home, residents can participate (actively) in our society for as long as possible. It is also important to maintain the support circuit so that people with dementia can continue to live at home for as long as possible.
Plan of action
The accompanying plan of action was designed in a beautiful glossy. Alderman Mathil Sanders presented this glossy to those present.
