Cultural Policy
The municipality of Geldrop-Mierlo believes that investing in culture is important. Culture has the power to bind and involve people and offers people opportunities to develop themselves.
New cultural policy plan
The City Council adopted the Cultural Policy Plan "The Power of Culture" 2018-2021 on March 5, 2018. The plan outlines the vision and ambitions. Five ambitions are central to the new policy:
- Maintain and expand a high-quality and diverse cultural offering;
- Encourage initiatives that use culture as a means to achieve social impact;
- Encourage cultural education and talent development;
- Strengthen the cultural face of the municipality;
- Promote cultural entrepreneurship.
The plan also includes the library vision. It also indicates what the municipality and the cultural sector expect from each other, as both must work together to make cultural policy a success.
The plan was created with input from cultural organizations and residents. The need for a coordinator, someone who can make connections, emerged as a major need. The municipality will therefore facilitate a position of cultural broker. The culture broker will be appointed by the Arts Quarter Foundation in 2018.
