Soil testing requests

What is it?

A soil survey reflects the quality of the soil at that time. Soil testing may be required in the following cases:

  • You are going to build or remodel.
  • You are buying or selling a home, commercial property or piece of land.
  • You have a business or are about to start a business for which you need an environmental permit.
  • You are a business owner and use building materials, soil or dredged material.
  • Zoning changes.

A soil survey is valid for 2 years. The quality of soil can change. Because of activities that take place on the soil or because the national research standards become stricter. With a field inspection or a supplementary survey, you can indicate whether the results of the soil survey are still correct after those 2 years.

What to do.

Requesting soil testing

Depending on the environmental permit, you can see what you need to apply for a soil test. For this, check the website of Omgevingsloket online.

How does it work?

Requirements for requesting a soil test include:

  • You have permission from the owner of the land where you want to conduct soil testing.
    • Does the land belong to the municipality? Then ask permission from the municipality.

How long does it take?

The municipality decides within 8 weeks of receiving your application. The municipality may extend this period once.

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you then disagree with the decision on the objection? Then file an appeal with the court.

What does it cost?

Requesting a soil test is free of charge.
