On Nov. 2, 2020, the City Council adopted the "Policy Vision for (large-scale) solar parks and wind turbines." Part of this policy was to open up a tranche of 30 acres for one month for the submission of initiatives. This tranche was open from November 13 to December 13, 2020. Currently, the council has no plans to open up a new tranche. In this regard, the council states the following: "As a municipality, we would like to generate energy in a sustainable way. However, we run into the problem that the grid does not have enough capacity to transport and store the generated energy. But we also value our green space. Therefore, an emphatic choice is made to first stimulate projects in which the green space is left alone as much as possible, before opting for solar fields. Self-sufficiency must also be encouraged, both for individuals and companies.
